Beaches on Seabrook Island

Pelican Beach (i.e., Sunset Beach) is the island’s peaceful beach and a perfect choice for young children to swim in the soft waves and slow current of the Edisto River as it meets the Atlantic Ocean.

North Beach is for those who prefer the early morning sunrise over Seabrook, the first place that light touches at dawn. Located on the Eastern shore, it claims one of the widest fronts on the Carolina Coast. It begins with an overture of rolling dunes which are held in place by Sea Oats and Wax Myrtles. The sheer size of North Beach makes it a very dynamic part of the island. Wildlife is abundant here and the soft sand is the perfect place to wait and watch for dolphins to meander by at feeding time.

The Sands at the Beach Club is where all the action is! While residents and guests enjoy the oceanfront pools and a full service bar and restaurant, people flock here for the sand and the view. Here you can see both the sunrise and the sunset and never leave your beach chair.

Dolphin Watching

Dolphin Watching - Dolphins can be seen in abundance strand feeding in and near the Capn Sams inlet. The best place to observe this great phenomenon is from North Beach at the Capn Sams Inlet. Guest’s may park at the parking pad on Oyster Catcher Court near Walk 2 and take either Walk 1 or Walk 2 to the beach. Turn left when you reach the beach and continue to the Inlet (approximately .5 miles).

Also, Pelican Beach, near where the Edisto River meets the ocean, is a great area to watch them frolicking.

Groceries

While on the island, the closest grocery store is The Village Market, a Harris Teeter grocery store. It is located at the circle in Freshfields Village. It is very well stocked, but can be very chaotic on busy check in days.

If you'd like to get groceries before you head to Seabrook, some options (starting from when you get off of I-526 onto Rt. 17) are:

Option 1 - Costco - When you get off of I-526, you will be taking a right onto Route 17 South. Stay in the right lane and turn right at the first light by the Toyota dealership (.1 miles). Costco is on your right about .5 miles down the road.

Option 2 - Publix - As you head down Route 17 South, when you get to the point where you will be turning left onto Main Road to head to Seabrook/Kiawah, turn right instead. On your left just passed the gas station is a Publix.

Option 3 - Bi/Lo - At the intersection of Maybank Highway (Rt. 700) and Main Road on your left behind the McDonald's is a Bi/Lo.

Final Option - The Village Market (Harris Teeter) - At the circle in Freshfields Village, one mile from Seabrook's gate.
